Welcome to the Swallowdale Road Preschool

SCC Nursery caters for children aged 2-5 years term time only, between the hours of 9:00am-3:00pm based at the Sinfin Community Centre.

We offer morning or afternoon sessions as well as short day 9am-3pm session. Please discuss your requirements with the settings Manager and we will try our best to accommodate your needs.

​

Children are encouraged to become more independent learners and although there is an emphasis on education, our fundamental aim is for our children to learn through play.

​

All children aged 3-4yrs are eligible for the free 15hrs per week funded hours as set by the Government.

​

If both parents are working you maybe entitled to claim for up to 30 hours of childcare. Please register your details on the Childcare Support website to see if you are eligible, if you are you will be given a eligibility code which you can pass onto the settings Manager.

Key Person Role

 

The Pre-school is led by a settings Manager alongside an excellent team of Nursery Practitioners who each have the responsibility for a small group of children when monitoring their development (key person/ co-key person system).

When your child starts their journey with us, they will be allocated their own key-person. Your ‘key-person’ will work closely with you and your child to help them settle into pre-school life. The key person will complete regular reviews of your child’s development and share their progress with you.

Pre School Activities

​

The children are based in a large bright and airy hall with plenty of space for them to explore and investigate. The room is divided into all the areas of learning and all the children have the opportunity to access the variety of activities provided, both indoor and outdoor (weather dependent), to help them develop, learn and grow to their full potential.

​

Our activities are planned according to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum along with individual children’s needs and interests.

Pre-school encourages the children to develop good manners and have respect for others as well as their surroundings. As children progress and develop they are supported to be prepared for their next chapter at school.

Meal & Snack Times

​

Children are offered a healthy snack, mid-morning and in the afternoon. A hot lunch is freshly prepared on site by our Pre-school ‘Cook’ for lunchtimes.

​

Mealtimes are an important social occasion and is a great opportunity for children to taste new flavours and develop good eating habits, learning basic table manners and the correct use of cutlery.

​

Please discuss any dietary requirements with the settings Manager.

 

Drinking water is available for all children at all times during the day.
